US Marine Joins Kurdish Forces To Fight ISIS
Reports that former US Marine Jordan Matson has traveled to Syria to join the Kurdish forces fighting against ISIS are being spread like wild fire across the internet today.
At this point these reports are unconfirmed, and the details of the situation are foggy at best. If this story is true, I imagine that someone in the community here has served along side him at one point and can confirm or dispel this rumor.
This statement was posted to a Facebook profile named Jordan Matson earlier this week.
“For all who didn’t know I’m in Syria fighting for the YPG against ISIS. I am ok, won’t be able to get on the net very often. I was hit by a mortar a few days ago during a 6 hour firefight but I am fine. Delivered an ISIS bastard to hell. Please keep me and the other Americans and Kurdish fighters in your prayers. I appreciate it. I’ll try and have some photos uploaded when I get a chance. Rock steady.”
His Facebook profile shows no evidence of prior military service, and most of his details have been kept private. His profile does show that he is from Sturtevant, Wisconsin.
Ever since ISIS hit the mainstream, the Facebook and other web pages where veterans gathering has been filled with comments and messages from vets looking for a way to deploy outside of the U.S. military to get in the fight, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this story ended up being true.
